Another year older, another year gone. Last year I wrote about all the things I was grateful for as I turned 25. This year I thought I would write about not only the things that bring joy into my life but the fantastic memories the last year has brought me. Here we go:
I went to Canada for the first time. Cold weather will perhaps forever be my favourite weather.
I brought in the new year with the love of my life, family and friends.
I climbed Mt. Fuji. This was truly one of the hardest things I have ever done, but it was worth it just to stand at the top with my Brother and Fiancé.
Chad and I celebrated our two-year anniversary. We had the most wonderful date. We ate at a fancy restaurant, got drunk on good wine and then went to McDonalds.
WE GOT ENGAGED. On April 14th, Chad took me back to where it all started and asked me to marry him.
My baby cousin was born. And let me just say, he is adorable.
I branched out and discovered some amazing books.
I went to Okinawa! This one had been on my list for a while.
I went diving for the first time. It was one of the most terrifying and exhilarating things I have ever done in my entire life.
My mam got engaged! Not only am I engaged, but my mother is too! we have so many wonderful things to look forward to.
I saw an Okapi. Having learned about them years ago I have been fascinated by these beautiful and rare creatures ever since. I cried a little when I saw one in the flesh.
I got my first tattoo. One of the scariest and most amazing memories I have. I had been waiting for this moment all my life, and I am so glad I had my best friend Clarie with me to get me through the nerves.
Randomly stumbling upon a Japanese festival. While Claire and I were wandering Shinjuku looking for a tattoo parlour, we stumbled right into a Japanese festival. It was so fun and random that It’s one of my favourite memories.
I laughed the night away at a Comedy Club. Before I left Japan, Claire, Jess and I went to a comedy club in Fukuoka. It was a fantastic night filled with banter, wine, and lots and lots of laughter.
The Lumineers. Chad and I saw The Lumineers live and I cried the entire way through. It was phenomenal.
Staying at a temple in Mt.Koya. Sitting on the porch, overlooking a beautiful garden, eating a traditional Buddhist meal and waking up too early prayer the next morning.
Best Friends I spent every spare moment with my best friend; Claire.
My colleagues and Students. Thank you for three wonderful years and throwing me an amazing goodbye party and ceremony.
The Canadian Rockies. While visiting Canada before heading home to Wales, we all went camping in the Canadian Rockies. I honestly don’t know what to say about this besides; Breathtaking.
Green tea. Whoever invented green tea forever has my gratitude. It gets me through the day.
Autumn days. Nothing makes me feel as alive as a brusque autumn morning.
My notebook. Buying my notebook has been the best thing for my writing.
Candles for days. When everything gets foggy, candles always help clear my head and ground me again.
Starting my MA. Getting my acceptance e-mail was one of the most amazing moments of my life. I have wanted this so long and to read the word ‘Congratulations’ meant more than I can ever describe.
Wandering the grounds of Corsham Court, and exploring the beautiful nature and history is just so inspiring.
Wonderful room-mates and friends. Moving into a house with people I don’t know had me more than a little terrified. Nearly as terrified of moving to a new city where I know no one. Thankfully for me, my room-mates and people at my university are great. I feel very lucky.
So there we have it guys. 26 things that have made me feel grateful since as I turn 26. What are you grateful for? Let us all know in the comment section below.
