So as many of you know, I live in Japan. A country that has captured the hearts of many; a country that I feel so lucky to be living and working in. Including my year abroad during my third year of university, I can now boast to having lived in Japan for around three years. During this time, I have challenged myself to visit as many prefectures during my life time as I can. Sadly, with work being busy and holidays very far and few between, I don’t always get time to travel. This doesn’t, however, stop me dreaming and so far, I’ve visited 16/47. It doesn’t sound like a lot I know, but Japan is a long country, and it takes time and serious money to get around; both of which I (sadly) do not have.
Thanks to the amazing app, VISITED, I’ve been able to keep track of which prefectures I visit. As you can see I’ve nearly been to all of Kyushu (The bottom island, clad in blue) and once I visit Okinawa, which I may be doing this may, I will have completed that island!
During my travels I have seen some amazing places, taken thousands of pictures and met some wonderful people. Recently, I’ve been thinking about a way to share all of my Japan travels with you. I want to create a space for both my readers, and me, to be able to flick through and look back at the places I have visited. And so, the photomap Idea was born.
‘What is this photomap idea?’ I hear you say. Well, it’s simple. Below, I am going to list all of the prefectures I’ve been too, followed by a photo or too, summarising my feelings for the area and giving you guys a taste of what it’s like. I would also like this to be useful to anyone who is looking to travel in Japan, and will be including links to blog posts I have written about the areas.
*As in every other index, prefectures will be listed from North to South, starting with Hokkaido and ending with Okinawa.
I still have many places I would love to go, and hopefully before 2016 is up I will have added a few new places to my list!
P.s sorry for some of the photos, my old laptop died and refuses to turn on, locking away all my precious pictures of my travels from previous years!
let me know which places you have been, or where you would like to go.
If you have any more questions about any of these places just leave them in the comment below, or message me on twitter.
