Hello guys, it’s been a while, hasn’t it?
You have no idea how frustrated I am with the lack of time I’ve dedicated to Teatime With Naomi. Especially since I had started the year off so well! At the start of the year, I was a blogging queen and felt motivated beyond belief. Then, out of nowhere, the thief of joy; doubt, set in and I stopped posting on my Instagram feed. The pressure to curate my life into a beautiful collage I could squeeze onto a screen was all too much to handle. Especially when it felt anything from that.
As it inevitably did, this self-doubt began to bleed into my blog. I began to obsess over stats, over a number of twitter followers I had in comparison to others. I felt so lost.
But there is also another exciting reason why I have not been blogging.
I have been applying for my Masters.
Right now I am in the final stages of applying to universities. It’s been a lot more stressful than I expected, but also a lot more rewarding. It sounds strange I know, but there is something highly satisfying about seeing the sections get ticked off as I go along. It’s also helped me get my affairs in order a little better.
But more importantly, it’s given me the chance to explore my creative writing. In the last month, I have delved deep into my work and my reasons for writing. I wrote, re-wrote and re-wrote some more. I’ve spoken to friends about how my work makes them feel and have discovered both my weaknesses and my strengths.
It’s been an amazingly eye-opening process. That being said, when all of my applications are nicely sent away, I will finally be able to breathe a full body of air once more.
Love From Berlin
Another exciting reason for my temporary absence is my new position as a contributor for LFB, otherwise known as Love From Berlin. Over the past few months, Rae has worked tirelessly to turn her little corner of the internet into a beautiful and eclectic blogzine. While I’m not in the first Issue, you will be seeing my work from Issue 2 onwards. I have been following Rae’s work for the last few years and being able to work with her is honestly a dream come true. It’s an amazing platform built by amazing women, and in the spirit of International Women’s day, please go on over and please show your support.
All in all, February and March have been busy months. Especially if you include my all consuming chest infection that’s kept me awake most nights. With that being said, you can take this blog post as my return to the blogosphere.
I’ve missed blogging and the ever-supportive community a lot in my absence, but the break from social media has given me time to focus on other areas of my life. It’s good to focus on yourself every once in awhile.
So, tell me what you’ve been up to! I figure I’ve missed a lot during my brief disappearance from the world of blogging.
Again, thanks for your patience my lovelies and your ever constant support. Have a fantastic weekend, guys.
