Description
Air Fryer Fried Pickles are a delightful twist on a classic appetizer. These tangy and crispy treats are cooked in an air fryer, offering a healthier alternative to the traditional deep-fried version
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 32 ounce jar sliced dill pickles, drained
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Ranch dressing, optional, for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for 5 minutes.
- In the meantime, drain the pickles on a plate lined with a paper towel, to soak up the excess juice.
- Whisk the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt, paprika, and cayenne powder together in a shallow bowl.
- Toss 15 pickle slices in the flour mixture at a time, and then shake off the excess.
- Spray your air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray, and layer the pickles into the basket. Space them evenly so the air can circulate.
- Spray the tops of the pickles with more cooking spray, and air-fry for 5 minutes.
- Flip the pickles over, spray them with cooking spray again, and air-fry for 4 – 5 more minutes, or until golden-brown.
- Repeat this process with the remaining pickles.
- Serve immediately, with ranch if desired.
Notes
- Flavor Customization: Feel free to experiment with the seasoning in the flour mixture. Adjusting the spices can tailor the pickles to your preferred level of heat and flavor.
- Pickle Selection: The type of pickle used can significantly impact the overall flavor. While dill pickles are standard, trying different varieties like sweet or spicy can offer a new taste experience.
- Serving Suggestion: For a visually appealing presentation, serve these pickles on a platter with a variety of dipping sauces. This not only enhances the flavor but also allows guests to choose their preferred sauce.
- Health Consideration: While air frying is a healthier cooking method, it’s important to consider the sodium content in pickles, especially for those monitoring their salt intake.
- Cooking in Batches: To maintain the crispy texture, avoid overcrowding in the air fryer. Cooking in batches may be necessary depending on the size of your air fryer.
