Ingredients
12 oz spaghetti
1 (26 oz) jar prepared spaghetti sauce
1 lb lean ground beef
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a skillet, brown the ground beef until cooked through. Drain fat and stir in the spaghetti sauce. Set aside.
Cook spaghetti according to directions on the package. Drain and place cooked spaghetti in a bowl.
Add cream cheese, Italian seasoning, and minced garlic to the spaghetti. Stir until the cream cheese is melted and the spaghetti is thoroughly coated.
Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread a small amount of meat sauce on the bottom of the dish. Put the spaghetti mixture on top of the sauce and then top with the remaining meat sauce. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top.
Bake for 30 minutes, until bubbly.
Notes
- Ingredient Quality: Use high-quality spaghetti sauce and freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor. If possible, choose lean ground beef or a plant-based alternative to keep the dish healthier without sacrificing taste.
- Room Temperature Cream Cheese: To ensure smooth blending, let the cream cheese soften at room temperature for at least 20–30 minutes before mixing it with the pasta.
- Adjust for Spice: For those who enjoy a bit of heat, add crushed red pepper flakes to the meat sauce or sprinkle them over the casserole before serving.
- Freezing and Storage: This casserole freezes well both baked and unbaked. For best results, store in an airtight container or wrap tightly with foil to prevent freezer burn.
- Leftover Ideas: Transform leftovers into a new meal by incorporating them into stuffed peppers or using the mixture as a filling for wraps. Creativity can turn leftovers into exciting new dishes.
- Garnish Tip: A sprinkle of fresh parsley or basil just before serving adds a burst of freshness and a pop of color.
