Notes
- Browning the Beef: While it’s possible to add raw ground beef directly to the Crock Pot, browning it first brings out more flavor and removes extra grease, making the stew richer and less oily.
- Vegetable Variations: This recipe is flexible with vegetables; feel free to add bell peppers, mushrooms, or celery for more depth. Just be mindful that more vegetables may require slightly more broth to maintain the stew’s consistency.
- Freezing Tips: If freezing leftovers, allow the stew to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. For best results, freeze in individual portions and label with the date. The stew will keep well for up to 3 months, and you can reheat it in the microwave or on the stovetop.
- Serving Suggestions: This stew pairs excellently with crusty bread, rice, or a fresh side salad for added texture and flavor.
