Ingredients
Scale
For the Chicken:
- 2 lbs chicken tenders, thighs, or breast
- 2 tbsp olive oil
For the Garlic Parmesan Butter Sauce:
- 1 stick butter
- 8–10 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup parmesan, grated
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (more if desired)
- 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
- 1/3 cup fresh parsley, minced
For the Chicken Seasonings:
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Prep and Skewer the Chicken:
- Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Cut chicken into 3-inch pieces. In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with olive oil and the seasoning mixture (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper), ensuring even coating.
- Thread the chicken pieces onto the skewers, packing them tightly together. Snip the skewers if necessary to fit the air fryer.
- Make the Garlic Parmesan Butter Sauce:
- Partially melt butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir in minced garlic, grated parmesan, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and minced parsley until well combined. If the sauce separates, re-emulsify by stirring in softened butter.
- Cook the Chicken:
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Arrange skewers in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
- Cook the skewers for 5 minutes, then flip and baste with the sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes, flip again, and baste once more. Continue cooking for 5-6 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- After cooking, give the skewers a final basting with the reserved sauce and sprinkle with extra parmesan before serving.
Notes
- Marinating Tip: For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the seasoning mixture overnight.
- Spice Level: Adjust the hot sauce and red pepper flakes to suit your preferred spice level.
- Cooking Without an Air Fryer: If you don’t have an air fryer, these skewers can also be grilled or baked in the oven. Adjust cooking times accordingly.
- Storage: Leftover skewers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven for the best texture.
