Description
These Crispy Apple Fries are a sweet twist on traditional fries, made by coating apple slices in a cinnamon-sugar mixture and air frying them to crispy perfection. They’re the perfect combination of crispy and tender with a warm, spiced sweetness. Great for a quick snack, dessert, or even as an appetizer!
Ingredients
1️⃣ Prep the Apples:
-
Wash and peel the apples (if desired) and cut them into thin slices (about 1/4-inch thick). To make them more fry-like, cut the apple slices into “fries” (long strips).
2️⃣ Make the Batter:
-
In a small bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg (optional), and salt.
-
Gradually add the milk, whisking until smooth to create a thick batter that will coat the apple slices.
3️⃣ Coat the Apple Slices:
-
Dip each apple slice into the batter, making sure it’s fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.
4️⃣ Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:
-
In a separate small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon together.
5️⃣ Coat with Cinnamon Sugar:
-
After dipping the apple slices in the batter, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until they’re evenly coated.
6️⃣ Air Fry the Apple Fries:
-
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
-
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or olive oil.
-
Place the apple fries in the basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them (you may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer).
-
Spray the tops of the apple fries lightly with cooking spray.
-
Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they’re golden brown and crispy.
7️⃣ Serve:
-
Once done, remove the apple fries from the air fryer and let them cool slightly.
-
Serve them with a dipping sauce like caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, or vanilla yogurt if desired!

Notes
-
Apple Varieties: For a slightly tart contrast to the sweetness, go for a Granny Smith apple. For a sweeter taste, use Fuji or Honeycrisp apples.
-
Air Fryer Tips: If you’re using a smaller air fryer, work in batches to ensure the apple fries cook evenly and become crispier.
-
Make it Vegan: Use dairy-free milk and a plant-based flour to make these apple fries vegan-friendly.
-
Add Toppings: Serve these with a drizzle of caramel, a dusting of powdered sugar, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
