Ingredients
For the mushrooms:
-
16 oz whole button or cremini mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed
-
2 eggs
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
1 ½ cups panko breadcrumbs
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
½ tsp smoked paprika
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Oil for frying
For the garlic butter dip (optional):
-
2 tbsp butter
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 tbsp chopped parsley
-
Pinch of salt
Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the mushrooms:
Gently clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and trim the stems if needed. Pat dry completely.
2️⃣ Set up the coating stations:
In three separate bowls, place the flour (with a pinch of salt and pepper), beaten eggs, and a mix of panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
3️⃣ Coat the mushrooms:
Dip each mushroom first in flour, then in egg, and finally in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to adhere the coating.
4️⃣ Fry the mushrooms:
Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat (about 350°F/175°C). Fry the mushrooms in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
5️⃣ Make the garlic butter dip (optional):
In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in parsley and a pinch of salt.
6️⃣ Serve:
Serve the crispy garlic mushroom bites hot with the garlic butter dip or your favorite sauce!
Notes
-
Use panko breadcrumbs for maximum crunch—don’t skip this for that irresistible crispy texture.
-
Keep mushrooms dry before coating to help the breading stick and stay crispy during frying.
-
Fry in small batches to avoid sogginess and ensure even browning.
