This rich, creamy fudge features deep chocolate tones layered with the warm, buttery notes of dark rum and holiday spices. It’s a grown-up treat that’s perfect for gifting or enjoying with a cozy drink.
Ingredients
- For the fudge:
- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, divided
- 2 tbsp dark rum
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
Optional toppings:
- Chopped pecans or walnuts
- Sea salt flakes
- Caramel drizzle
Instructions
1️⃣ Line the pan: Prepare an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or foil. Lightly grease the lining for easy removal.
2️⃣ Melt the fudge base: In a saucepan over low heat, combine chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and ¼ cup of butter. Stir constantly until smooth and melted.
3️⃣ Stir in flavorings: Remove from heat. Add the remaining ¼ cup butter, dark rum, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until well combined and glossy.
4️⃣ Transfer to pan: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
5️⃣ Add toppings: Sprinkle with nuts or sea salt, or drizzle with caramel if desired.
6️⃣ Chill: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the fudge is firm and set.
7️⃣ Slice and enjoy: Remove from the pan, cut into small squares, and serve or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
