Ingredients
For the cake:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup sour cream (or plain yogurt)
- 2 medium apples, peeled and chopped

- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
2️⃣ Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
3️⃣ Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and sour cream.
4️⃣ Combine: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
5️⃣ Transfer to pan: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
6️⃣ Add topping (optional): Mix the topping sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly over the cake batter.
7️⃣ Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8️⃣ Cool and serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
