Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the filling:
In a small bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and ½ tsp cinnamon until smooth.
2️⃣ Assemble the roll-ups:
Lay a slice of bread flat. Use a rolling pin to gently flatten it. Spread about 1 Tbsp of the cream-cheese mixture down the center. Tightly roll up the bread, pressing the seam to seal. Repeat with remaining slices and filling.
3️⃣ Make the egg wash:
In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, granulated sugar, and ½ tsp cinnamon until blended.
4️⃣ Cook the sausage:
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add oil if pan-frying. Cook sausage links, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through (about 8–10 minutes). Transfer to a plate and keep warm.
5️⃣ Cook the roll-ups:
In the same skillet (wipe it clean first), melt butter over medium heat. Dip each roll-up into the egg wash, coating all sides, then place seam-side down in the skillet. Cook, turning gently with tongs, until all sides are golden brown and the filling is warmed through, about 2–3 minutes per side.
6️⃣ Serve:
Arrange roll-ups on plates alongside sausage links. Drizzle with maple syrup, dust with powdered sugar, and garnish with berries if desired.
