These flaky, golden puff pastry pinwheels filled with savory ham and melted cheese make for a perfect appetizer or snack. Quick to prepare and always a hit at parties, they’re delicious served warm or at room temperature.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 6 oz sliced deli ham
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Swiss cheese
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2️⃣ On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet into a rectangle (about 12×9 inches).
3️⃣ Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the pastry (if using).
4️⃣ Layer the ham slices evenly over the pastry, followed by an even sprinkle of shredded cheese.
5️⃣ Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the pastry into a log.
6️⃣ Using a sharp knife, slice the log into ½-inch thick pinwheels.
7️⃣ Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
8️⃣ Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
9️⃣ Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
