Description
Turn your leftover mashed potatoes into crispy, cheesy puffs that make the perfect snack or appetizer. Golden on the outside and soft on the inside, these puffs are quick to prepare and irresistibly delicious.
Ingredients
-
2 cups leftover mashed potatoes
-
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-
1 large egg
-
1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Cooking oil for frying (or use an air fryer for a healthier option)
Instructions
1️⃣ In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes, shredded cheddar, flour, egg, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the dough holds together.
2️⃣ Heat about 1 inch of oil in a deep skillet over medium heat (or preheat your air fryer to 400°F/200°C).
3️⃣ Using a spoon or your hands, shape the mixture into small balls or patties.
4️⃣ Carefully fry the puffs in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. If using an air fryer, arrange puffs in a single layer and cook for 12-15 minutes, shaking halfway through.
5️⃣ Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
Notes
-
Add cooked bacon bits or herbs like parsley for extra flavor.
-
Serve with sour cream, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
-
These puffs reheat well in the oven or air fryer to restore crispiness.
-
Use any type of leftover mashed potatoes—regular, garlic, or loaded works great!
