Description
This Garlic Butter Rice is rich, savory, and full of flavor with just a few simple ingredients. It’s the perfect side dish to complement chicken, steak, seafood, or veggies — and it’s so tasty, you might just eat it on its own!
Ingredients
-
1 cup long grain white rice
-
2 tbsp unsalted butter
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 cups chicken broth (or water with bouillon)
-
½ tsp salt (adjust based on broth used)
-
¼ tsp black pepper
-
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
-
1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for richness)
Instructions
1️⃣ Rinse the rice:
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.
2️⃣ Sauté the garlic:
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.
3️⃣ Toast the rice:
Add the rinsed rice to the pan. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes to coat the grains in the butter and garlic.
4️⃣ Cook the rice:
Pour in the chicken broth, add salt and pepper, and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
5️⃣ Fluff and serve:
Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork. Stir in parsley and Parmesan cheese if using. Serve warm.
