Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 lb chicken breasts, diced
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp canola oil, or any vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp green onions, sliced

Honey Butter Sauce

  • 5 tbsps butter, room temperature
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  •  tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

Chicken

  • Combine the flour, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, onion powder, salt, and ground black pepper in a large bowl. Add the chicken pieces to the flour mixture and mix until it is thoroughly coated.
  • Melt the butter with the oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat, then add the chicken in a single layer making sure to spread it out evenly. Fry the chicken until golden brown on both sides. Then, remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.

Honey Butter Sauce

  • To prepare the honey butter sauce, turn the heat down to low heat, and add butter to the cast iron skillet. Once melted, add honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, salt, and ground black pepper.
  • Continue stirring over low heat until the sauce reaches a smooth caramel-like thickness. Add and mix in the chicken until it is completely covered. Once completely covered with the sauce, turn off the heat and let the chicken cool for 5 minutes.
  • For serving, move the dish onto a platter and serve with white rice and sauteed green beans.

Notes

For best results, ensure the chicken is evenly coated with the seasoned flour and fried at the right temperature to achieve maximum crispiness. The honey butter sauce should be cooked on low to medium heat to prevent burning and to achieve a smooth, glossy consistency.
