How to Make a Flaky-Crust Bacon Cheeseburger Pie

  • Author: Naomi

Description

This Turkey Bacon Cheeseburger Pie transforms classic cheeseburger flavors into a warm, comforting, and easy-to-serve baked dish. Instead of a traditional crust, it uses a light Bisquick-style topping that sets into a tender, savory layer over seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar, and smoky turkey bacon. The result is a hearty, satisfying pie that delivers all the cheeseburger goodness with a lighter, guilt-free twist.

Ready in under an hour, it’s ideal for family dinners, meal prep lunches, or potluck sharing. Serve it with a side salad, roasted veggies, or pickles for the full cheeseburger experience. Simple, cozy, and crowd-pleasing—this dish earns a permanent spot in the weeknight rotation.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 4 slices turkey bacon, chopped

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 eggs

  • ½ cup Bisquick or other baking mix

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)

  • Pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish.

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped turkey bacon until slightly crispy. Remove and set aside.

In the same skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Season with salt and pepper. Drain any excess fat.

Spread the beef and onion mixture evenly into the prepared pie dish. Sprinkle the cooked turkey bacon and shredded cheddar cheese over the top.

In a bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and Bisquick until smooth. Stir in ketchup and mustard if using.

Pour the batter evenly over the meat and cheese layer.

Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with burger toppings like pickles, lettuce, and tomato if desired.

Notes

  • For added flavor, mix a teaspoon of garlic powder or smoked paprika into the beef.

  • Let the pie rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing for cleaner portions.

  • Use sharp cheddar for a bolder flavor.

  • Optional toppings like pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes give it a true cheeseburger finish.

  • Leftovers taste even better the next day.
