  • Vegetarian/Vegan Option: For a vegetarian or vegan version, substitute the ground beef with plant-based meat and use dairy-free cheese. The flavors will remain rich and satisfying, making it a versatile option for various dietary needs.
  • Preparing in Advance: The Sloppy Joe mixture can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This makes it a convenient option for meal prepping or serving at parties where you need to get food on the table quickly.
  • Serving Tip: Serve these Sloppy Joes with a side of crispy French fries, coleslaw, or pickles to complete the meal. These sides add a refreshing contrast to the rich and hearty main dish.
  • Alternative Breads: If you can’t find Texas toast, thick slices of French bread, brioche buns, or sourdough can be used as alternatives. Just make sure to toast them well to handle the saucy filling without becoming soggy.
