- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
For the garlic butter sauce:
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
Cook the linguine in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened
Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until browned and fully cooked through
Stir in minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Cook for another minute until fragrant
Push the beef to the side of the pan and melt the butter in the empty space. Sprinkle flour over the butter and whisk to combine
Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens
Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with additional salt and pepper if needed
Add the cooked linguine to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in the creamy sauce
Sprinkle in chopped parsley and mix well. Serve hot
Notes
-
For best results, use freshly grated Parmesan and full-fat cream.
-
Always reserve pasta water—it’s a game changer for adjusting sauce consistency.
-
The sauce thickens as it cools, so serve immediately after tossing.
-
This dish can be made ahead, but reheat gently with added cream or milk.
-
Feel free to add in veggies like spinach, mushrooms, or peas for variety.
